Greater Manchester Fire Service practice what they preach
Greater Manchester Fire Service (GMFRS) aim to reinforce their message to install sprinkler fire protection by installing one in their own new SAGE building. They are playing a key role in promoting better understanding of the benefits of sprinklers as part of a core commitment to reducing the impact of fire on people, property and the environment.
In January 2022 Richmond Fire were contracted by PLP Construction Ltd to work on the Sage Building renovation project. Works included the extension of the classroom and welfare facilities, as well as the alteration and refurbishment of an existing two storey office building.
Located in Bury, Greater Manchester, at the largest fire-fighter training facility in the UK, is the purpose-built GMFRF Training and Safety Centre. This state-of-the-art centre, which is one of the most advanced in Europe, trains firefighters from across the region. It offers trainee firefighters a variety of real-life scenarios and emergencies that have been built around a real-size terraced street.
Our works were to design, install and commission an automatic sprinkler system in all rooms in the SAGE Building, which we successfully completed in November 2022.
